Teddy Bears travel

to

Afghanistan

Afghanistan E-mail
For a year an half I collected teddy bears from Canadian Children for Children in Afghansitan. I toured schools, military bases and communities across Canada speaking about childrens lives in Afghanistan.

I met many children who's Mom or Dad was serving in Afghanistan or they knew someone who had served there. I had the opportunity to meet and speak with many Canadian SOliders who had served in Afghanistan and heard many stories including many passionate ones about children.

In these conversations I learned that a Canadian Solider serves in Afgahnsiatn because they want to be there, they are not forced to serve there, but they want to make a positive difference in poeples lives there.

In April 2009 74,000 teddy bears (9,000 lbs) were sent by ship to Afghanistan and recently arrived and was met by the Education Minister of Afghanistan, who will be the person who assist us in deleivering the teddy bears to the children.

This project would not of been possible wihtout the support of the Canadian Forces across Canada, the Ambassador of Afghanistan in Canada and the Consulate General of Afghanistan here in Canada.
